In Loving Memory of Pauline “June” Sommers Murphy

Pauline “June” Sommers Murphy, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on June 10, 1952, in Port Antonio, Jamaica, she was the cherished daughter of the late Vincent George Sommers and Sybil Monica Cargill Powell.
Pauline's life was marked by unwavering faith, boundless love, and an indomitable spirit. As a dedicated registered nurse, she touched countless lives through her work. After retiring from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, Pauline continued her vocation as a Home Health Nurse with Beacons Health System, providing compassionate care to those in need.
Beyond her career, Pauline found joy in gardening, traveling, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Her curiosity and desire to learn new things were a testament to her vibrant spirit. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Pauline volunteered at the Atlanta Georgia Temple, embodying her faith through service and served diligently with the FamilySearch Outreach mission working on several projects connecting people with their ancestors and preserving their family history.
Pauline will be remembered for her resilience, strength, and generous heart. Her wisdom and home remedies, her love of plants, and her ability to offer comfort and advice made her a source of strength and inspiration for everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Murphy; her children, Najla Murphy and Nahesi Murphy; and her grandchildren, Nadonis Murphy, Naliya Murphy, Josiah Fields, and Nahanni Murphy. She is also survived by her siblings: brothers Errol Stewart, Everton Sommers, Fitzroy Cargill, Michael Powell, Vincent Sommers, Gregory Sommers, and Terrence Sommers; and sisters Sonia Powell, Deborah Hayden, Dawn Powell, and Candace Sommers.
Pauline's Celebration of Life will be held on February 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 4400 Reese Road, Columbus, GA 31907.

Pauline’s legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
